ABBA in the Ted Gärdestad Movie

In 2018, a movie was made all about Ted Gärdestad’s life, and despite the fact that I hardly knew any Swedish when I first watched the movie (I still hardly know Swedish, but I’ve been doing Duolingo now for over a year, so I know some things), I found it to be a pretty nice tribute to the singer. Of course, it has its flaws, one of them being the fact that they have the same late 20s/early 30s actor playing Ted throughout his entire career, including when he was just starting out in the music business as a TEENAGER, and also surely there were some over-dramatized scenes that probably weren’t all that accurate. Of course, seeing as ABBA played a big part in Ted’s early music career - Björn and Benny were involved with the production, and Agnetha and Frida amongst other artists sang backing vocals on many of Ted’s songs, the members do show up in the movie. I’m a very picky person when it comes to people trying to play ABBA, be it in tribute bands or films, and the majority of the time, no one ever does a good job getting people who even resemble ABBA. Usually, they just slap bad-looking wigs on them and call it a day. Honestly, while the acting choices weren’t perfect, I think they did a decent job, HOWEVER, they seemed to ignore the fact that ABBA’s looks changed a ton throughout the early/late 70s, and as a result, you get ABBA in their 1971 look about to go on tour in 1977. So for funsies, I decided to compile all of ABBA’s scenes and while I was at it, compare how they look in the movie to how they were supposed to look in the actual year. Anyways, let me know what you think of this video. I made it almost two years ago and never got the chance to upload it, and honestly, it was fun to do. Hey, maybe someday I’ll do a video like this with that terrible, stupid documentary ITV produced a few years ago which makes this movie look perfect hahaha. No copyright infringement intended of course. I do not own the audio or video footage.
