ABC TV | How To Make Artichoke Flower From Crepe Paper - Craft Tutorial

The artichoke or atiso (Cynara cardunculus var. scolymus), also known by the names French artichoke and green artichoke in the U.S., is a variety of a species of thistle cultivated as a food. In Greek legend, a woman named Cynara was bathing on the shores of the ocean. Zeus, visiting his brother Poseidon, happened upon her and was impressed at how she wasn’t impressed: him being the king of all gods didn’t seem to bother her much. Cynara willingly and eagerly started an affair with Zeus and was made an immortal goddess by him. Zeus thought that if she got to live eternal on the Mount Olympus it would be all she needed, but she longed for her home and family and snuck off to visit. Zeus became enraged at this perceived betrayal and struck her down from the mountain. When she hit the ground, Cynara turned into an artichoke.
