Today I bring you news of a new tape coming through Helhallen. A repress of French band Aries’ 2022 album, Le Dernier Sacre. First released by Epictural on CD, Helhallen are giving it the ferric treatment, alongside the Graf album I featured last week. This album is one for fans of exquisitely executed melodic black metal. An album of romantic themes from this Parisian band, delivered through grim nasty old school atmospheric malevolence, salivating with spiteful malice and loaded with a secret weapon of actual audible basslines that add a blood-pumping pulse to the rhythmic, tremolo shredded momentum.
