This is such a great album, I decided to put it here on my channel, though it is also availble elsewhere. I never met Doc, but a friend of mine talked to him on the phone. She also sailed with Pete Seeger, and knew everyone, in the old days. She knows who she is. Heart. A man, blind since he was three, accomplished more than a hundred of us usually do. Who was Doc Waton? He was a man who inspired and in one way or another guided thousands of musicians, singers, music lovers, and just plain ordinary folks. I was only fifteen when I first saw Doc play his music, at Newport. Now I am going on 73 and admire him more than ever. This is the effect of a human who is pure, or pure enough, at heart, a man you can count on, a man you learn from. I only know what I saw and heard, seeing him play over the years, from 1965 at Newport, to his last performances at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas.
