Saturn Through A Skywatcher 10“ Dobsonian Telescope on 5-20-12
Here’s Saturn from awhile back when it was still visible. It’s larger than previous videos because I experimented with the camera at 5x optical zoom instead of what I normally use, which is 3x. It looks larger, but also not as bright due to the fact that when you use more magnification to make objects bigger, the light used to view them is spread across a larger area which in turn, makes that object appear dimmer.
Here’s what I used to capture this video:
Sky-Watcher 10“ Collapsible Dobsonian Telescope
Basic specs are:
• 10“ (254 mm) Dobsonian-style Newtonian
• 1200 mm focal length (f/)
• 2“ Crayford-style focuser with “ adaptor
• 8x50 right angle viewfinder
• Solid rocker-mount with Teflon bearings and tension clutch
• Collapsible tube design for easy storage and transportation
Accessories:
• Celestron Telescope Camera Adapter
• 5mm Celestron X-Cel LX eyepiece
Camera:
• Canon Powershot SX230 HS 12.1 megapixel camera at 5x optical zoom
