Italy: Saint Barbara statue flies over town in chopper as traditional procession curtailed by COVID

Mandatory credit: Vigili del Fuoco A statue of Saint Barbara, the patron saint of Rieti, as well as of firefighters, was flown over the town in Lazio on Friday, as the traditional procession was unable to take place amid the coronavirus pandemic. The statue was carried aloft by a fire service helicopter as they marked the saint’s feast day, which in pre-pandemic times was celebrated with a parade by firefighters through the streets of the town.
