Thought to be Selected Originals from late 1940s material. 15/07/1946 France. A memorial service is held in France for men of the 51st Highland division. L/S of French coast near St. Valery-en-Caux. M/S as a soldier of the 51st Highland division looks at graves of unknown British soldiers at war cemetery. L/S of allied flags. French children walk in a procession to the cemetery for a memorial service. M/S as the mayors of Aberdeen, Elgin and Inverness attend. M/S as a French army officer lays a wreath on the memorial in the cemetery. C/U’s of the gathering in the cemetery including British officers and French army officers. M/S as a British Major General lays wreath on the memorial. Little girls lay flowers on the graves. Various shots as a clergyman conducts the service. Ends at 01:21:37 Dover, Kent. C/U of Jorge Berruetta of Chile, South America, training for his cross Channel attempt. C/U’s as Berruetta exercises his arm and chest muscles. M/S as he adjusts his goggles and enters the water.
