Deep Purple - David Coverdale - Burn - ft Ken Tamplin

This video is a cover by yours truly on Deep Purple’s “Burn“, one of my favorite bands of all time, with several of my favorite vocalists! I hope you enjoy watching as much as I enjoyed singing it! Deep Purple - David Coverdale - Burn - ft Ken Tamplin I have to admit, when I first heard Deep Purple’s “Burn“ I was 11 years old and my older brother Richard blasted this song so loud and almost knocked me over ha ha. I was born in 1963 and this song came out in 1974. I remember it well. I was just starting to learn guitar and take it seriously at that time. To be honest, when I heard Richie Blackmore, I got quite discouraged because I thought I would never get that good or I knew it would take a very, very long time to even try to come close. Some of you that are close to my age may relate to this, but there was so much freaking good music out at that time. I was like a puppy dog in the car running from window to window trying to figure out what music I wanted to learn next on guitar! You may stop for a moment and say “wait a minute Ken, isn’t this supposed to be about singing?“ Not for me at that time, I was only into guitar. In that year alone, these were the songs I remember learning that had charted in 1974: Lynyrd Skynyrd – “Sweet Home Alabama” Rush – “Working Man” UFO – “Doctor Doctor” David Bowie – “Rebel Rebel” Rolling Stones – “It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll (But I Like It)” Bad Company – “Can’t Get Enough” Sweet – “Ballroom Blitz” Grand Funk Railroad – “Some Kind Of Wonderful” And so many others, but this was just 1974 and did not include the years prior and years to follow. But the one that caught me off guard the most was Deep Purple – “Burn” I did learn that song on guitar as well as many, many others and then realized how much I wanted my voice to accompany my guitar. So with the same hunger, tenacity, discipline, and love that I had for guitar, I pursued my quest for learning how to sing. From that little boy at age 11 in 1974 until this 58-year-old man in 2022, I give you Ken Tamplin’s version of Deep Purple’s “Burn“! Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy - Where the proof is in the singing!
