Portrait in Brown: Vincent Gallo Rarities [Fan Compilation, 2021]

A fanmade compilation of studio and live recordings spanning Vincent Gallo’s musical output from the 1980’s up to the early 2010’s. The intention of this compilation was to give the broadest overview of the material not available on his 2 releases on Warp Records (When and Recordings of Music for Film) or the Bohack record It Took Several Wives while also assembling a cohesive listening experience. Some exclusions include the single version of “So Sad“, Devin Sarno’s “Full Dynamics-Frequency Spectrum“ piece which Vincent Gallo played guitar on, Gallo’s rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner“ from the film United States Wins the World Cup, and a good number of untitled RRIICCEE compositions. 00:00:00 “Brown Italy“ [The Way It Is Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, 1984] 00:03:00 “How Long (feat. Lukas Haas)“ [KXLU 88.9 FM Los Angeles Live Volume Five compilation, 1999] 00:04:54 “So Sad - Yes I’m Lonely (feat. Lukas Haas)“ [Honey Bunny single, 1999] 00:09:06 “Honey Bunny (Demo)“ [Honey Bunny single, 1999] 00:14:12 “Cadence And Cascade“ (King Crimson Cover) [Club Quattro, Hiroshima, Japan, ] 00:18:42 “A Taste of Honey“ (Bobby Scott & Ric Marlow Cover) [Club Quattro, Hiroshima, Japan, ] 00:22:26 “Moonchild (feat. Trish Keenan)“ [The Troubadour, West Hollywood, CA, ] Additional notes: “How Long“ is mentioned in the Honey Bunny single liner notes to be a Lukas Haas composition, but was included due to it being credited to Bunny which was a collaborative musical effort between Gallo and Haas. The RFH live performance of “A Somewhere Place“ was included as it is the only available live recording to my knowledge of any of the instrumental pieces off Recordings of Music for Film, and also served as a nice break between the two “moon“-centric RFH cover songs. The last track (given the unofficial title here of “Promise“) is a live performance of what is speculated to be one of the songs used in Vincent Gallo’s unavailable 2010 film Promises Written in Water, and available footage of the crowd during the closing credits at the film’s Venice International Film Festival showing has music faintly in the background that sounds very similar to this song. Download: Painting featured on the cover is “All We Need Now is Tony Bennett.“ by Vincent Gallo. For any questions about this compilation feel free to email me at prostrateconstantly@
