California Bear Cubs Lock Themselves Inside Car, Tear Apart Interior

A pair of bear cubs trashed the interior of a car in Sierra Madre, California, after opening a door to the unlocked vehicle and locking themselves in. Thomas Greenberg, who shot this video, told Storyful he awoke on the night of December 10 to honking that continued for 30 minutes. “The hazards were on, too, and we thought that it was rude of our neighbor to be honking at midnight,” Greenberg said. “We texted another neighbor and asked if he thought we should investigate and he told us he would go over to check it out.” The neighbor then called Greenberg in a panic and informed him there were two bear cubs stuck in the car. “We opened our front door and saw mama bear barreling down the street toward our neighbor,” Greenberg said. The neighbor got safely indoors, but the cubs “kept honking and escalated to chewing the car door where the lock is,” Greenberg said. He called the non-emergency police, who opened the car door.
