70 Years of the IDF Uniform

Today, we’ll explore the historical changes of the IDF women’s uniform, from 1950 to today. Since the formation of the Israeli Defense Forces in 1948, the IDF has drafted both men and women into its military forces. With mandatory military service for the majority of 18-year-olds, the IDF uniforms have been both heavily influenced by the practicality—what gives soldiers the most mobility and is effective in various terrains—and elements of fashion from the era.
