SideFX Houdini / Substance Painter tutorial : Terrain Export and texturing

In this 5th part we are digging into the texturing and more specifically real-time environment. Let me tell you first what we will cover and what we won’t. We’ll start by preparing our terrain for textures in Houdini with the help of some of my AL-Tools. My goal is to show you how to prepare it for games and realtime. If you got my Project files on my store, you probably noticed that I went fully procedural with mantra surface shaders. I may talk about that in an other tutorials, but due to hardware limitation I’d rather show you first the whole process in substance painter... and also because.. it’s really fun ! So I am sharing how I prepare the terrains, bake textures and generate a sweet look with Substance painter tools. No megascan or any external resources, My goal is mostly to show how to make a decent lookdev base working across several UDIM tiles and organize the layers so you can add more detail later on with fancier material if you like.
