Watch live: SpaceX Falcon Heavy launches GOES-U weather satellite from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center

Watch live coverage as SpaceX launches a Falcon Heavy rocket carrying the GOES-U weather satellite for NASA and NOAA. Liftoff from launch complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center is scheduled for Tuesday, June 25, at 5:26 p.m. EDT (2126 UTC). The Falcon Heavy’s twin side boosters will return to land at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station about eight minutes after lifting off. The core stage will not be recovered. GOES-U is the fourth and final satellite of the next-generation series of geostationary weather satellites built by Lockheed Martin for NASA and NOAA. The satellite will orbit 22,300 miles above the equator to monitor weather conditions across the United States. The spacecraft will be renamed GOES-19 once it reaches its operational orbit. Our live coverage with commentary from Will Robinson-Smith will begin about two hours before launch. Videos like this are made possible by the support of our members.
