Staithes : A quaint fishing village by the sea

Staithes is a quaint traditional fishing village in North Yorkshire, and right next door is Runswick Bay which is equally picturesque. In this video, we’ll visit both Staithes and Runswick Bay, tell you about its fishing history, stories of Captain James Cook who lived in Staithes briefly, smuggling and its famous art scene with Laura Knight and the rest of the Staithes Art group. They are both charming places to visit and you can even walk between them on the Cleeveland Way National Walking Trail if you are feeling fit! We’ll also pop into the famous port of Whitby which was our base for the weekend. We have previously done a full tour of Whitby, but we were provided accommodation to showcase the area by and we thank them for hosting us. They have many luxury properties all over Yorkshire, so do check out their website if you are looking to stay. For many more videos on Yorkshire towns, villages and attractions check out our playlist. We have lots to show you! If you like fishing villages then maybe look at Robin Hood’s Bay as well. It’s a magical place and just the other side of Whitby! ❤ Please support our channel in one of the following ways: 1. Subscribe and click the notifications bell. Subscribe to channel 2.
