Israel expands Avigayil settlement, prevents Palestinians from building homes

Israel has been expanding the settlement outpost of Avigayil in the occupied West Bank, and preventing Palestinians from building homes, amidst the expansion of other illegal Israeli settlements, which were retroactively approved by the Israeli government Outposts are built by Israeli settlers in the West Bank on private Palestinian lands, without government authorisations, and are often turned into official settlements. All Israeli settlements beyond the 1967 borders are illegal under international law. Since coming to power in December, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s far-right coalition has approved the building of 7,000 new housing units, mainly in the West Bank, and has endorsed 12,855 housing units for settlers since January, Peace Now said, the highest number the group has recorded since it started tracking such activity in 2012. Nearly 700,000 settlers live in more than 250 settlements and outposts across the West Bank and East Jerusalem in violation of international law Subscribe to our channel: Middle East Eye Website: Follow us on TikTok: @middleeasteye Follow us on Instagram: Like us on Facebook: Follow us on Twitter:
