Russia’s most prominent opposition leader Alexei Navalny collapsed and died on Friday (February 16) after a walk at the “Polar Wolf“ Arctic penal colony where he was serving a long jail term, the Russian prison service said. In several cities across Russia, small groups of people placed floral tributes to Navalny at historic memorials to victims of political repression, following the news of his death in jail.
