Common/ Trade Name: Jewel Spot or Neon Spot Elongatus Scientific Name : In title Family : Cichlidae Location : Ruarwe, and Hai Reef in Lake Malawi, Africa Max. size: 10-12 cm / 4 - 4.5 inches pH range: 7.4 - 8.4 Temperature range: 76 - 78° F Temperament: Can be very aggressive establishing dominance in a new tank setup. Care level : Easy to care for and is a hardy species that will readily accept flake or pellet type foods. Great looking Mbuna that tends to be overlooked by most cichlid keepers. Not as common as some of its close cousins but is still readily available and is commercially bred.
