1983 British Grand Prix highlights

Thumbnail photo credit: Rainer Schlegelmilch The British GP circled back to Silverstone for the first time in two years. A five-week break since the Canadian Grand Prix meant the arrival of three new car designs in the Silverstone pit-lane: Ferrari’s 126C3, Brabham’s BT52B and Lotus’ 94T, as well as the new Honda-backed Spirit team. René Arnoux had broken his Ferrari duck last time out in Canada and would be keen to keep the momentum going into the summer, but Prost, Tambay and Piquet looked to be the favourites for the championship as the season edged past its mid-point. Championship standings after eight rounds: 1. Prost (30) 2. Tambay (27) 3. Piquet (27) 4. Rosberg (25) 5. Arnoux (17)
