Funeral Of Maitre Of Labori (1917)

Funeral procession of Maitre of Labori (full name Fernande Gustave Gaston Labori); a French lawyer who served as defence counsel for Albert Dreyfus; in the controversial trial in France; 1894. Elaborate and traditional procession. Horse-drawn hearse covered completely in roses. Two men with gold medallions; followed by a large group of men in long robes and pillbox type hats; I’m not sure if these men are something to do with the legal profession; or if they may be some branch of rabbis or other Jews. Then official mourners all in black with long black veils over their faces and hanging down; black hats on top of those. More people follow including some French Army. Ends with CU of man wearing suit & tie - he takes a cigarette case out of his pocket and gets out a cigarette. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
