Roadracers - “Race With The Devil“

“Race With The Devil” and the T Bone Burnett / Charlie Sexton Connection - This is another from the soundtrack we did for Robert Rodriguez’s “Roadracers” in ’94. This is our version of the old Gene Vincent classic “Race With The Devil.” We wanted to do this live as much as possible and to help out we brought in blues guitarist Pat Boyack and his band. Pat is playing all the low string stuff and I’m up on the high strings. In the film this version gets used twice, a 30 sec version very early in the film and then the full version in the first part of the ending credits. BUT, there’s also a version by Charlie Sexton in the second half of the credits and that version was produced by Fort Worth’s, T Bone Burnett. At the very end of that version Kevin McCarthy from “Invasion Of The Body Snatchers” appears is a cameo in a theater where Nixer is watching the end credits for ‘Body Snatchers.’ Roadracers ends using the very end shot from ‘Body Snatchers’ and the character, Miles with the big letters “The End” across
