Rescue operations continue after severe flooding in northern China from Typhoon Doksuri

The extreme rain brought on by Typhoon Doksuri killed at least 20 people and displaced tens of thousands of residents in the capital Beijing and neighbouring Hebei province. Rescue operations have been under way, with outside help coming from neighbouring areas. Local authorities activated several flood storage and stormwater detention areas in Haihe River Basin to reduce pressure downstream, forcing thousands of Hebei residents from their homes.
