Fly Tying with Corey: Opal Spider

From Corey’s QEE series comes the tutorial on his take on tying the Opal Spider pattern - a simple and flashy soft hackle or spider fly. This wet fly is just as effective as it is easy to tie. Fished on a tight light, swung through the current, or dead drifted, this pattern has been responsible for landing many nice resident brown and rainbow trout. For this recipe you need the following: • Hook: Size 12 Barbless Nymph Hook (try Hemingway’s HC113 hooks: ) • Thread: 6/0 Uni fl. orange • Body: Opal Mirage Tinsel - Medium • Collar: Hungarian Partridge (sized to the hook) Find your fly tying materials and supplies at ().
