7.0 earthquake today in Vanuatu/Very strong magnitude 7.0 earthquake 99 km east of Port-Olry Vanuatu

Just 16 minutes ago, a earthquake struck near Port-Olry, Sanma Province, Vanuatu. The tremor was recorded early afternoon on Wednesday, November 22nd, 2023, at 3:47 pm local time, at a shallow depth of 10 km below the surface. The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it. A second report was later issued by France’s Réseau National de Surveillance Sismique (RéNaSS), which listed it as a magnitude 6.4 earthquake. Other agencies reporting the same quake include Geoscience Australia (GeoAu) at magnitude 6.6, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 6.6, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 6.3, and the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 6.7.
