The eighth session of 1984’s Friendship Cup; the 100kg’s category. Weightlifting at the Friendship Games was contested at the Palace of Culture and Sports in Varna, Bulgaria between 12 and 16 September 1984. 80 athletes competed in 10 events. World records were broken thirty times during the competition. “Bulgarian team skipped the 100kg class. Pavel Kuznetsov, USSR, was the leader of the class. However, lack of competition affected negatively his performance. In addition, tactical team battle didn’t let him to realize all his potential - he broke the world record only in the clean & jerk (241,5kg). The medal winners in the class were the following: Pavel Kuznetsov (USSR) - 422,5kg, Andor Szanyi (Hungary) - 390kg and Milos Ciernik (Czechoslovakia) - 385kg.“ /based on: Timing, results are below.
