WATCH: Thompson establishes Cassidy Hutchinson’s access, proximity to senior Trump officials

Cassidy Hutchinson, a former aide to Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, testified on June 28 as the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack presented its findings to the public. In responding to questioning by Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., Hutchinson walked through her roles, including changing priorities depending on former President Donald Trump’s schedule, and working on security protocols at the White House. In a committee video, Thompson also showed a map of the West Wing of the White House, demonstrating where Hutchinson’s desk was in relation to key senior members of the Trump administration and the Oval Office. The hearing was announced unexpectedly a week after the Jan. 6 committee said they were taking a break until the month of July. In the year since its creation, the committee has conducted more than 1,000 interviews, seeking critical information and documents from people witness to, or involved in, the violence that day.
