Western Staff style Methods with Club. Ma Family Tongbei Technique

Zhou Jian-Rui performs Bian-Gan Wu-Yin, Qi-Shou, Shi-San Fa This VCD shows the staff as a weapon. Using a shorter, thinner stick - similar to a Jo - the teacher shows a series of exercises in short linking forms where each strike is quite direct and its simplest level the work here resembles Aikido stick play. The whipping of the title is clearly demonstrated with a series of slashes and back slashes that could also be converted easily to cane defense. A more hands-on approach than a set for performance. Though applications are not shown they are pretty obvious. This technique was developed by masters Wang Tianpeng, Luo Wenyuan, and systematized by Ma Yingda, based on the Tongbei Jin concept using the Tongbei technique. #chinesemartialarts #tongbeiquan #wushu
