Gaia Tormena and Titouan Perrin-Ganier seal overall UCI World Cup wins in Barcelona - Siroko 10% Extra Discount - Suplementos24 - The 2023 UCI Mountain Bike Eliminator World Cup is a wrap. In Friday’s Grande Finale, the fifth and ultimate round in Barcelona, Gaia Tormena (ITA) and Titouan Perrin-Ganier (FRA) sealed the overall victories, while Tormena and Simon Gegenheimer (GER) took the day’s wins. 27 points in the men’s category, 52 in the women’s: gaps in the UCI World Cup rankings before the final round in Barcelona were still bridgeable. But in the end, eliminator stars Tormena and Perrin-Ganier both managed to stay on top. A vintage Tormena stormed to the win in the qualifying time-trials, and managed to stay in the lead in each and every of the final heats. Once again, Marion Fromberger showed to be the strongest opponent, but in the end the German champion had to settle with second place in both the day’s result and the overall classification. Katharina Sadnik from Austria was a surprising third of the day, Dutch Annemoon van Dienst took third spot on the overall podium. In the men’s race, Titouan Perrin-Ganier secured his first ever overall UCI World Cup win already by reaching the big finals. Luckily he did: ‘TPG’ crashed in this final heat, and so he couldn’t contest the win of the day. In the end, it was Simon Gegenheimer from Germany beating Lorenzo Serres (FRA) and Theo Hauser (AUT) for the Grande Finale win. Perrin-Ganier was a smiling fourth, taking his first ever UCI World Cup overall trophy home. Gegenheimer is second in the overall, Serres third. Finish line quotes “It took a long time to finally win my first race of the 2023 UCI World Cup”, Gegenheimer said. “I managed to win a race every year, and now I managed to do it again. It’s good to raise the form towards the UCI World Championships. We’ll have an exciting race in Palangkaraya!” Gegenheimer’s teammate Perrin-Ganier smiled big, showing off with his first ever UCI World Cup trophy: “Finally I did it! I was close to the overall sooo many times. This means a lot. I want to say a big thank you to my new team: I’m so happy to give this overall to them.” “Winning here in Barcelona is always great: it’s already my fourth time. Thank you very much to the organisers and everyone who was here cheering”, Tormena enjoyed. “I’m also very proud with the overall win: the level of girl racing is growing, so it was much more difficult than the previous years to realise this. I don’t know what to expect from the UCI World Championships in Indonesia: it is so unpredictable, racing with new Asian ladies that I don’t know. I’ll give my best, but this UCI World Cup overall already makes my season.” Men’s results – UCI Mountain Bike Eliminator World Cup Barcelona 1. Simon Gegenheimer (GER) 2. Lorenzo Serres (FRA) 3.
