Canadian Olympic Trials - Running. Canada. Men’s trials; for 1928 Olympics. Athletes from Canada’s various provinces parade around stadium; each group carrying sign w/ name of their province. Stands full of spectators. Runners crouching in pre-sprint position. Start of race. Also several competitors in long jump. 3 winners in one of the events standing on small platform; w/ 1st place on higher step. End of a sprinters’ race. Shot put. Hurdles. End of what was probably a long distance race. Interspersed through story are CUs of athletes speaking; while being interviewed; 2nd man is black (African-Canadian). Possibly includes Percy Williams; who won both the 100m & 200m dash events at the 1928 Olympics. Williams; age 19; had hitchhiked across Canada to compete in these trials.
