‘A lot hinging on this’: Iran ‘likely’ to retaliate if Israel ceasefire negotiations fail

ASPI Senior Analyst Malcolm Davis says “a lot” is hinging on the Israel-Hamas ceasefire negotiations as Iran is “likely” to retaliate if they fail. This comes as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to a ceasefire proposal brokered by the United States. “There’s a lot hinging on this, in the sense that if the ceasefire negotiations do fail, then what is likely to happen is that Iran is likely to carry through with its threat to retaliate,” Mr Davis told Sky News Australia. “You would then have that escalatory cycle to a much larger war.”
