The Queen We Chose || Daenerys Targaryen

Almost exactly 2 years ago (May 19, 2019), Game of Thrones ended. A series once renowned the world over limped across the finish line with an ending so egregious it basically killed its own fanbase. The writing was so bad it nullified any effort anyone else put into the show. I don’t think I’ll ever get over just how bad season 8 was, and as someone who loved Daenerys’ character and her progression throughout the story, I (like many people), was appalled with her ending. What could have been an interesting character arc was so rushed and nonsensical it ended up being nothing short of character assassination. This, then, is my tribute to Daenerys as she was and how we’ll choose to remember her: a fierce and powerful woman who made it her mission to end slavery and topple tyrants. There are already so many beautiful Daenerys tributes made by amazing editors, and many of them do a brilliant job of portraying her life, development, character, fall and legacy.
