The End Of The Scharnhorst (1944)

Title reads: “The End of the Scharnhorst“. Location of events unknown. Various shots of warships. Various shots on the deck of the warship “Duke of York“. Officers of ships which took part in the North Cape action tell of their experiences. Amongst them are Captain Bain of the HMS Norfolk, Vice Admiral Burnett, Admiral Sir Bruce Fraser (Commander-in-Chief of the Home Fleet), Captain Evans, Chief Petty Officer Thane (sp.?) of the Duke of York, Chief Petty Officer Mather (sp.?) of HMS Norfolk and Norwegian officer from ship “Stord“. M/S of sailors perched on large guns of warship cheering. M/S of group of sailors, including engineer covered in oil, giving thumbs up and ’V’ sign (for Victory, although it could be mistaken for the ruder meaning!). Cataloguer’s note: all the officers speak in stilted, nervous manner - making it unintentionally funny to watch! AH 2001. FILM ID:1348.2 A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
