A perfect frame Outlining the dawn A distorted picture Of a past long gone White sand so soft Is filling my palms Running through my fingers Like an hourglass Carving your likeness Into marble and steel While mountains crumble And are washed to the sea A wasteful war Long time foreseen Overturned your statues Brought oblivion You’ve tried to save yourself From death and decay But gold will fall And white turns gray Oh Vanity Becomes so small like mighty kings When time takes its toll
