Liza Rey (Butler) is a harpist. As a young child, Rey would perform on the TV shows “Ford Time“ and “The King Family Show“ and would sing back up for artists like Frank Sinatra and Doris Day on their records. She took up the piano and later the harp, which has become her signature instrument. She earned a Masters degree in performance harp in college and had a career of playing the harp for TV, sessions, concerts and playing in Reno-Tahoe orchestras for live shows. She even recorded a few studio albums of her own as well as touring with her own quintet and playing in music festivals. She is also the mother of Will and Win Butler of the Canadian based indie band Arcade Fire.

For this year’s Christmas video upload, I have purchased Liza Rey’s 1992 album “Noel Nouveau“, released by Aubergine Records. I bought this album, not knowing what it sounded like and (thankfully) I was not disappointed. I found a few tracks to upload for future holiday posts. Fact: Track 1, “Carol of the Shepherds“ was featured on the Aubergine Records sampler “Aubergine a la Carte“ as Track 6.
So without further ado, here is “Carol of the Shepherds.“
