The LEGENDARY tornado in Wray, Colorado revisited

5 years ago today, the legendary Wray, CO tornado was intercepted on May 7, 2016, as the perfect combination of a High Plains and traditional Tornado Alley type supercell. The storm produced a strong tornado that moved due north and narrowly missed the town of Wray. Dr. Molina and I chased this tornado as the rental car was about to run out of gas. We also intercepted a beautiful elephant trunk tornado just to the west of Wray with a different supercell storm. Storms would fire in the unstable atmosphere south of a west-to-east moisture gradient with easterly surface winds to its north - A classic Colorado high plains tornado setup. Never stop chasing
