Protesters build barricades in Tbilisi — Georgian President urged to stop dispersing demonstrators while some opposition politicians are detained or beaten up
Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili in a released statement called on the Interior Minister to immediately stop dispersing demonstrators in Tbilisi protesting against the law on foreign agents. Several police officers have already been hospitalized after clashing with protesters, the country’s Interior Ministry said. Despite this, clashes in the city do not stop - protesters are trying to erect barricades on the central Rustaveli Avenue.
Meanwhile, local media say that special forces have again detained opposition MP Aleko Elisashvili, while the chairman of the largest opposition party Levan Khabeishvili was beaten by law enforcers.
