’Sombras’ by OKAN

Composed by Elizabeth Rodriguez and Magdelys Savigne ’Sombras’ is the title track from OKAN’s Juno nominated debut release. (Lulaworld Records, 2019) Director Luisa Maria G.R. describes the video work as “an abstraction of the Cuban Santeria ritual ’Darle Coco al muerto’, which is has traditionally been presided over exclusively by men. This new representation puts women at the center, allowing them to see what, at other times, was not permitted.“ The video is a portrayal of every strong Cuban Santera that has walked over the earth.
