Game Recap: Penguins vs. Sabres () | Crosby’s 1,300th Point and Zohorna’s First Goal

There’s nothing like your very first game in the NHL, and Radim Zohorna’s first game wasn’t just memorable because he played it: Zohorna earned his first NHL goal (on his first shot, no less) to put the Penguins up 1-0 heading into the first intermission. Jared McCann added two goals to his totals in the 2nd and 3rd periods. The Sabres had thought that they scored to break Casey DeSmith’s shutout bid, but after a coach’s challenge, the play was ruled offside. Jake Guentzel finished things off with an empty-net tally. With assists on the final three Pittsburgh goals, Sidney Crosby recorded his 1,300th NHL point. Crosby is the 8th-fastest player to reach that milestone (1,017 GP) and the 12th player in NHL history to record 1,300 points with one team. The Penguins joined the Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wings as the only teams with two 1,300-point scorers (Mario Lemieux, 1,723). Casey DeSmith turned aside all 36 shots the Buffalo Sabres got on net. SUBSCRIBE to be among the first to see new Penguins content
