“No Strings (I’m Fancy Free)” by Irving Berlin I Choreographed by Lucy Vallely

I partnered with Concord Theatricals, CLI Studios and The Irving Berlin Music Company to celebrate the 85th anniversary of Irving Berlin’s 1935 movie musical TOP HAT with a brand new video inspired by Irving Berlin’s iconic song “No Strings (I’m Fancy Free).” I am so honored to share my choreography in celebration a film that I have loved for years. When CLI came to me with this project and the beautiful cover of “No Strings” by Molly Moore and Scott Effman, I knew my creation process was going to flow easily. Since it’s such a feel good song, I wanted to celebrate how my body intuitively moves to the music and not overthink my creation. I also think it’s so important to create with people who make me feel joyous and inspired, so that is why I had my dear friend, Will Okajima dance with me (he is one of my all time favorite dancers AND human beings).
