This video is a contribution for the “Dance your Ph.D.“ contest of Science magazine.
In the video I’m dancing an electron, which heavily interacts with a laser, or more precisely with a standing wave of light formed by two counter propagating laser beams of equal intensity. After the interaction the initially upwards pointing electron spin is tilted, like in my PhD thesis.
