The 700 ft Friede Steel Sphere/Globe + New York Tunnels. Old and Rare photographs (39K Thank You)

Howdy. Welcome back. Today is a thank you video replete with photographs of old New York. We will also look at different proposed designs, architectural goals of New York that never reached fruition. We will focus specifically on the Friede Globe Tower, which, in 1906, was to be built in the Coney Island area. The Globe Tower was to have 11 above ground levels, each nearly 75 feet tall, with the entire structure measuring over 700 feet. Apparently in 1906 through 1907 construction was started on the infrastructure, which was to include an underground railway station, underground subway station, underground parking garage, and most extravagant, an underground water tunnel and pier connecting to the greater waterways of New York. Above ground, the Globe was to include even more unbelievable features which we will discuss in the video. By the beginning of 1908, hope was lost for the Globe to be completed. The infrastructure of the Friede Globe Tower was apparently filled in. We will look at the artistic depictions we have. I was unable to locate any construction photographs of what was built from 1906-1907. This would be a holy grail find if anyone had more photographs. Also this is a thank you video to everyone who helped the channel grow these last few months. Love you guys! Links to my other videos on New York; THE ORPHAN TRAINS: Replenishing America’s Workforce.
