Home For Discharged Heroes (1917)

Home for discharged heroes. Location of events unknown. World War One; veterans. ’Homes for discharged heroes’. Housing. Nurses and some Army officers looking over a row of little huts built on a rocky hillside. They are just big enough for a bed and a chair; well maybe a small table also. The front of each is completely open; with a little railing like a porch; but long curtains can be drawn across the opening. This is in keeping with the prevailing medical wisdom of giving patients plenty of fresh air. Anyway; various shots following nurses & officers as they walk along path on the hillside and check out these mini-cottages; some of which are already occupied. Don’t know what the idea of this was; not permanent lodgings I hope. But nice sort of beach cabins for a short period of recuperation — open and airy; per medical advice; etc. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ. EXPLORE OUR ONLINE CHANNEL, BRITISH PATHÉ TV.
