The song was written by Paul Simon and originally appeared on the Simon and Garfunkel album of the same name in 1970. This version does not include the Sail On Silver Girl verse about Simon’s then wife, Peggy Harper, which Garfunkel had suggested but which Paul Simon never really cared for. The song has also been reworked to match an earlier version of the song Paul Simon discussed in a recent documentary. Joining Mr. Garfunkel onstage are Tab Laven (guitar) and Paul Beard (keyboard).
