Daddy Daughter Jazzy “Ode to Joy“ (New Lyrics)

Our 9-year-old daughter Emilie just started the saxophone. Her teacher, Khun Two, gave her “Ode to Joy” as her first piece. Emilie was curious to hear the original version by Beethoven, so we listened together to this concert performance conducted by Daniel Barenboim: =ChygZLpJDNE&t=1537s We Googled the English translation of the German lyrics to “Ode to Joy“ so Emilie could sing along with the piano, but unfortunately the words didn’t have any meaning for her. We found alternative lyrics by Vikki Fielden, however, the lyrics focused on the European Union, so, it was the same. Emilie and I had the idea to re-write several of Vikki Fielden’s verses so it might be more relatable to a 9-year-old child like Emilie, with hopes and dreams for the future. ODE TO JOY (Words by Barton family, based around Vikki Fielden’s lyrics).
