Jina Mahsa Amini awarded top EU human rights prize

#JinaAmini, after her death in Iranian morality police custody sparked an enormous wave of protests, became the second #Kurdishwoman to receive the European Union’s Sakharov Prize for #Freedom of Thought. The first laureate was Leyla Zana, one of Turkey’s first Kurdish MPs who was jailed in 1994 for adding a sentence in Kurdish while taking her parliamentary oath.
