Soond: Inflammation, Cytokine Signaling And Cancer Progression This series of lectures describe what contribution inflammation and inflammatory cytokines make to the pathology of disease with a focus on cancer. The series starts by highlighting the central role of one inflammatory cytokine and the role in plays in lung disease through triggering inflammation. Signaling pathways are introduced which state how the cytokine can cause cell proliferation and apoptosis and the role these pathways play in regulating proliferation of lung tissue giving rise to disease symptoms. This theme is carried through to the next lecture which highlights the role of a cytokine which is a suppressor of inflammation and what contribution this makes to cell proliferation in cancer.
