Hornet nest extension

Hornets can be upwardly mobile but the cost of new homes in the park is very expensive (this is Richmond Park after all) so this colony have decided to settle for a nest extension instead. Here they are starting to construct a chamber for the brood that will provide next year’s queen hornets. Despite being made of paper and Hornet spit these structures can last for months. As we shall see in the next clip.
