J.S. Bach - Ich ruf’ zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ (BWV 639)

Roberto Bertero at the Great Organ Bonato/Klais of Villasanta’s Sant’Anastasia church (Italy). In this video I am playing one of the most intensely emotional of all Bach’s compositions: the chorale prelude “Ich ruf zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ” (I call to Thee, Lord Jesus Christ) BWV 639, extracted from the Orelbüchlein (Little Organ Book). This masterpiece become well known to the general public also thanks to the Soviet director Andrei Tarkovsky, who decided to include an interesting arrangement of this work in the soundtrack of his movie “Solaris“. Not by chance, the thumbnail used for this video is inspired by a sequence of the film, when Tarkovsky literally “flies“ with the camera inside Pieter Bruegel’s paintings, all accompanied by this splendid chorale prelude by Bach. I have already posted a recording of this work on this channel, played on the organ of the Santuario della Consolata. This one was instead recorded on the Bonato-Klais organ in the church of Sant’Anastasia in Villasanta.
