Zoom of the Milky Way’s central region

This video, which starts by showing a large-scale view of the Milky Way, zooms on the central region of our galaxy. This area was newly observed with the HAWK-I instrument on ESO’s Very Large Telescope in the Chilean Atacama Desert with an angular resolution of 0.2 arcseconds.
