In this special Pangea’s Grandangolo episode Jean Marazzani Visconti discusses the massacre of Medak Pocket and the dissolution of Yugoslavia. There is a parallel between the donbass in Ukraine and the Kraijne Serbe in the Yugoslav Federation. Kraijna as Ukraine means border. The Kraijne Serbe were regions at the foot of Croatia that the western powers had included in Croatia as part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and the Yugoslav socialist federation later. When Croatia had detached from the Federation in 1990, the Kraijne had formed Kraijna’s Republika Serba, they would have agreed to be part of Croatia, but only in the context of a confederation of the Yugoslave republics.
