Building an Off Grid Log Cabin Alone in the Wilderness, Ep20, Roof Framing is Finished

Short days caused by high humidity and afternoon thunderstorms slow me down but I was able to finish framing the roof which prepares me to start drying in the cabin this week, well before winter starts. I remove the last of the steel cables from the trees, relieved that I am finished hoisting heavy logs into place. Each afternoon, we go for walks along the creek in the cool, shaded forest, observing that the water levels are starting to rise again after hitting lows a couple of weeks ago. At this time of year, I’m able to get most of my food from the garden and the forest so I cook a campfire meal of grilled bear, fresh potatoes and onions with chaga tea on the side.
